'WE REGRET TO INFORM THAT

COM.R.GOVINDARAJAN , ERSTWHILE OFFICE BEARER, JOINT SECRETARY  OF AIIEA

PASSED AWAY LAST EVENING.

THE AUTHOR JOINS HUNDREDS OF HIS FRIENDS AND MEMBERS OF AIIEA IN OFFERING OUR HEART FELT CONDOLENCES TO THE BEREAVED FAMILY.

MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.:"

THAT WAS MY RITUALISTIC POSTING IN MY BLOG DEVOTED TO PENSIONERS OF LIC BUT
BROODING OVER THE LAST SIX DECADES,

I CAN FIRMLY AFFIRM

THAT HERE WAS A MAN SO DEDICATED TO HIS IDEALS WHICH HE THOUGHT SO SACROSANCT THAT HE SACRIFICED HIS ENTIRE CAREER .

I SAW HIM FIRST IN 1962 AT THANJAVUR WHEN I JOINED THE DIVISIONAL OFFICE AT THANJAVUR AT NORTH VELI STREET BUILDINGS.

OVER THE YEARS, HIS HOLD ON ALL MEN AND MATTERS CONNECTED WITH THE TRADE UNION MOVEMENT IN OUR INDUSTRY WAS SO IMMACULATE

THAT HE WAS INDEED A GIANT AMONGST EVEN OTHER LEADERS OF OUR ORGANISATION.

DURING 1960s and later too, me along with my friends  had many occasions to differ with him, fight with him, verbally of course, in committee meetings, even fight with him during union committee elections,

but sooner than before , people around him, including me, (and there is no doubt about it)

realized and that we actually loved this

GREAT MAN . A TRUE SOLDIER IN THE ARMY OF AIIEA

AS JOINT SECRETARY .

ALL INDIA INSURANCE EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION FOUGHT MANY A BATTLE INCLUDING AGAINST INTRODUCTION OF COMPUTERS IN OUR ORGANISATION AND THERE

WE DID DIFFER WITH HIM IDEOLOGICALLY BUT

OUR LOVE FOR THIS MAN GREW MORE AND MORE.

IT WAS MY PRIVILEGE LATER IN MY LIFE

TO SERVE THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM AIIEA WAS THE LIFE AND BREATH

AS MANAGER ( p & iR ) at THANJAVUR DIVISION.

On the day, I retired as Vice Principal of our Zonal Training Centre, at Chennai,

at the farewell party, I recalled my association with just TEN people in my forty two year association with our Organisation., as the BEST ones never to be forgotten.

And in my list,

I recalled  Com.R.Govindarajan.

For he stood for what his cherished goals.
And never he got distracted by mundane matters involving promotions.

He served his men till his end.

Glory to Thee my friend.!

A Red Salute to you !
